Lexi’s First Christmas

Hey dolls!

I am so happy to share our Christmas pictures with you all today. I know it is February, but we didn’t we a chance to shoot these until January since we were at MUSC until five days before Christmas. It was the best present to be able to get her well and back home and I am so grateful for that. I hope you all enjoy these pictures as much as I do.

7 Children’s Christmas Books

Christmas was and is my favorite time. I always loved the decor, the atmosphere, and as a kid always the stories. I remember reading so many Christmas books growing up and I can’t wait to do the same for Lexi. Here are some that would be great for your little ones and you to enjoy.

5 Home Dates For New Parents

Before becoming a new parent my husband and I would have date night at least one night a week. Now that a new baby is in the mix a date may be harder to schedule and to be honest we don’t want to go anywhere without our little one. I am sure many of you moms can relate to this. With that being said my husband and I have come up with home date nights. Today, I am sharing 5 at home date ideas that you may love.

5 Home Dates For New Parents-2

Cook together: To me this one is a given. My husband loves to cook and me not so much, but it is fun when we do it together.

Movie Night: We both like pretty much the same kind of movies so this works well for us.

Binge Watch a Show: Definitely one of our favorite things to do. Netflix and Hulu are our best friends.

Bake: We love to bake cookies and muffins. We especially love to do this late at night and enjoy them with a nice glass of milk.

Play Cards: We haven’t done this one yet, but we do want to learn to play more games so we definitely will be doing this soon.

If you have anymore ideas to suggest please do!

3 Benefits of Reading to Your Baby

I absolutely love reading to Lexi. I have been reading to her when she was still in the womb. Some people think that they do not comprehend  what you are reading   at such a young age, but they sense your tone,  mood, and get to hear their mommy and daddy’s voice. There are many benefits to reading to your little one and I would love to share those with you.

  1. Bonding Time: It’s an activity that turns into a special time with your little. The baby is exposed to the sound of your voice and of course that is soothing for them.
  2. Emotions Come into Play: Your baby is exposed to feelings through the different sounds you use when reading. Every parent does a voice for a specific character at times and they detect that. Also, when you describe the book to them they hear the emotion you are using to describe it to them.
  3. Showing Them Reading is Fun: Making it a part of your daily routine can teach them that reading can be something that they enjoy. That will help them not dread it when they start school.

Family + Newborn Shoot

This little has brought so much joy to our lives. I never knew you could love like this and it is such an amazing feeling. We are crazy about this girl.

We took these when Lexi was a month old since she spent the first month in the NICU. She did well during the shoot except for a brief moment when she got tired. I tried to get our dog Pluto in the shoot but he would just not have it. Maybe we will have better luck on our next shoot.

I hope you enjoy the pictures!
