Books I’ve Read Lately

Happy Tuesday lovelies!

I have become such a bookworm lately. I don’t know why, but I find myself reading a book a week. There is nothing better than taking a bath and reading a good book.

Today I wanted to share the books I’ve read recently. I’ve picked up some really good ones that I haven’t been able to put down! I literally cannot wait to find the time during the day to read. Also if you have any good book recommendations please let me know!

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen: This book was SO good! It is a total psychological thriller and I could not put this down. I read this book in three days. A small summary on this is that an angry ex-wife is stalking a young  fiancee who is basically just like her former self, or that is what you will think. I will let you all read the book to find out more.

The Secrets of My Life by Caitlin Jenner: I know I may get some judgement on this book but I don’t care. I really enjoyed reading about Bruce Jenner and his life and the transition to Caitlin.

Still Me by Jojo Moyes: Louisa Clark arrives in New York ready to start a new life, looking forward to this new adventure and keep her relationship with Ambulance Sam in London still going strong. She ends up mixing in New York high society, where she meets Joshua Ryan, a man who reminds her of a man in her past. This book comes after the book Me Before You, if you loved that one you will love this one too.

A New Model by Ashley Graham: I LOVED this book so much. Ashley Graham, which I am sure you all know who she is. I love this autobiography about her childhood, how she got into modeling, ( a plus sized model ) and just being a total Girl Boss. She is a woman every girl and woman should look up to.

The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine: This book is hands down my favorite. It is definitely the definition of a psychological thriller. Amber Patterson is  tired of being a nobody, a woman who blends into the background. She befriends Daphne Parrish, beautiful, rich socialite. Amber has a plan, but she doesn’t know that Daphne does too.

I completely recommend every single book in today’s post. And if you end up reading them I hope you enjoy them.

Carbon Coco Review

I have recently become  obsessed with my teeth. It’s the first thing I look at in the mirror in the morning. Now that I am a mom I drink more coffee than usual and of course it can stain your teeth. I think white teeth are a basic necessity and I feel “dirty” if mine aren’t white. Carbon Coco reached out asking if I’d like to try their natural teeth whitening products and I was all about it. Keep reading to find out more about it.

HOW TO USE CARBON COCO
All you need to do is wet the toothbrush, dip into the powder and tap off. The just brush your teeth for 30 seconds, rinse and brush teeth normally with toothpaste. How simple is that?!

Do I recommend it?
Yes I do. It does make a mess in the bathroom, but my teeth have definitely gotten whiter. So it does work.

Night Time Skincare Routine

Happy Friday dolls!

A few weeks ago I shared a post with you all about my morning skincare routine. Today I am looking forward to sharing my nighttime skincare routine. It is a little more extensive than my morning routine, but the results are worth it.

What are some products that you all have in your nighttime routine?

Philosophy Cleansing Cloths: These are AMAZING! They feel so great on your face and remove my makeup so well.

Erno Laszlo White Marble Vitamin C Peel: I use this once for deep exfoliation and it works wonders.

Fresh Sugar Lip Polish: This product makes my lips feel so smooth! I use it two times a week. All you have to do is massage it on your lips then wipe off, so easy!

Tula Purifying Face Cleanser: This is easily the best cleanser I have ever used. It feels so great on my skin. This cleanser goes deep into your pores to remove impurities and helps condition skin.

Tula Pro-Glycolic Resurfacing Gel: This product is so amazing and it is so gentle on my sensitive skin. It uses probiotics, glycolic acid, and beetroot extract to gently exfoliate your skin. It leaves it smooth and hydrated.

La Mer Moisturizing Cream: I have been using this for about a year now and so happy that I started to use. It is so gentle and leaves my skin so soft.

Tula Revitalizing Eye Cream: I have always been picky about eye creams until I found this one. It hydrates the skin around the eyes which minimizes lines and dark circles.

Tula Dual Phase Skin Reviving Treatment Pads: I use these two times a week and I am so happy to have purchased these. They really brighten up your skin. I saw a difference after three weeks of using them.

La Mer Hand Treatment: This was a splurge for hand cream, but worth it! It makes my hands feel so smooth and I put it on every night. This has to be my favorite purchase in my skincare routine. It was perfect for the winter months for when my hands were super dry.

Transition to the Crib

21192789_1276754482450852_4111877602974248014_n

As a first time mom I can’t describe how hard it was to move Lexi from her bassinet to her crib in her own room. I do have to state that her room is all the way across the house. I also have to tell you that Lexi did better than I did. I was so sad to not have her in our room, but it was time for her to move out.

Below are three tips that made this transition easy on Lexi:

  1. Hang out in her room for a bit. Make her feel like you are there. I can’t begin to tell you all how much this helped Lexi. I only did it for almost two weeks and thankful that this helped so quickly.
  2. Do the switch in stages. I started off having her nap in there and then moved her in her room for bedtime.
  3. Create a routine. I always have some bonding time with Lexi in my room and then we go to her room for story time before I put her down for the night.

These three things really helped her transition and I hope they can help you mommas as well.

Get My Fire Place and Mantle Look

Last week I shared my coffee table look with you so I thought that I would share my fireplace and mantle. It pretty much correlates with my coffee table with the mercury glass but I have added some faux greenery and terracotta vases which I love.

Morning Skincare Routine

Happy Friday dolls!

We all know how important a good skincare routine is. To me the morning skincare line up is important. It is about protection and preservation, especially now that I am in my late 20s.

You could easily add about ten steps to your routine in the morning, but there four are important ones that I do every morning.

Get My Coffee Table Look

Now that the holidays are over I put out my “everyday” coffee table decor and I could not be more proud of it. I love mercury glass, it is so timeless and goes with a lot of the decor around my home. I just love this beautiful, simple coffee table look.

From Colic, To Reflux, To A Nissen

27906941_2185489978128592_500404610_o

Witching hour. When Lexi was about two months old she would cry and cry from about 9:00pm to 10:30pmish every night. That time frame was officially called witching hour in our house. This literally lasted for about a month or so. I thought this was her just being a bay since I am a first time mom, but it was colic.

After a few months she started spitting up from her mouth and out her nose a few times a day. in the course of a week it got worse. I was afraid to lay her down and leaving the room because I was scared that she may spit up and choke.

One day we were at her cardiologist’s office and he noticed her contorting her body and spitting up/refluxing bad and he admitted us to GHS. This was our third hospital visit with her, but I never knew you could get hospitalized for reflux problems. Once we were admitted they did tests for eight or nine days just to rule out anything else and to be sure in fact that it was reflux and that is what it was. They tried feeding her through A NG Tube that went to her stomach and that didn’t help. Then they tried an NJ Tube, that past the stomach into her small intestine and it helped a tiny bit. Eventually the doctors decided she needed to get a Nissen done, which they tie the upper stomach to her esophagus. Things can go down but nothing can come up.

They performed the surgery and it worked. She now has her Nissen. She doesn’t spit up anymore and she is on three medications to help her motility and heartburn. I am so thankful for the Nissen. It really has done wonders for Lexi and I am so thankful for the doctors at GHS.
