10 Mom Truths

Being a mom is the best thing ever! I absolutely love it. I do have to admit that I have done things I said I never would do and haven’t done things I said that I would do. So much changes when becoming a mom. I never knew how different things would be, so I wanted to share 10 things that I have come to find that are differently true.

Can any of you relate to these?

10 Mom Truths-3

You will Google just about everything and yes you will freak out.

You will feel a love like no other.

Your baby’s touch will melt your heart.

You will ask the pediatrician a million questions.

You will wonder if what they do is “normal”.

Finding time for yourself will become harder.

You will understand why your friends with kids would bail on you.

You are no longer grossed out by boogers or poop.

You will be EMOTIONAL about the little things.

The house will always be cluttered with toys.

New Mom Gifts

When becoming a new mom everything can become a little overwhelming. You make sure you are feeding the baby on time, that the baby gets enough sleep, and that you have all the baby gear that you need. As a new mom there are some items that I am so happy to have had and if you are shopping for a new mom then today’s blog post is a perfect read. Below are the top 4 items that I recommend that you purchase for a new mommy:

Postpartum

Postpartum. The experience isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Of course the first few weeks was a whirlwind of emotions. Laughter and tears. The fact that I had a baby in the NICU didn’t make my emotional health any better. But let me just state that I was not depressed just sad that I had to leave her every night to go home.

My body of course is a lot different than it was a year ago. I had to embrace these new bumps, so I had to add to my wardrobe. After six weeks and exclusively pumping I was below my pre-pregnancy weight! I honestly had to do a double take at the scale. Before I got pregnant I was 155 pounds, the week I give birth I was 177 pounds, and as of a week ago I am 145 pounds. I honestly feel great about my body, all I need is just a little bit of tightening.

I have also made a point to allow some “me” time. My husband has been great in watching Lexi and letting me take a long shower, go on a walk, go to the salon, get a mani/pedi, etc. I feel that has helped me so much mentally. Sometimes I just need an hour to recharge and I feel that time makes me a better mom when I come back home.

At the end of the day, I am so tired, have dark circles under my eyes, late to appointments, and having to entertain a fussy two month old who is crying for no reason. But this is motherhood and I love it.

Eight Weeks

Baby Lexi is about eight weeks old! I can’t believe how fast time has flown by. I have heard parents say that times flies by and I would roll my eyes at that, but boy was I wrong. Time goes by really fast. We are so lucky that she is ours. I can’t imagine not having her. One huge thing that has happened in this eight weeks is that we found out that she does not have Dandy Walker Variant! We are so blessed and happy to have found out this news. She still has the chromosome deletion, but we are thankful we have one less health problem with our baby girl.

Lexi is still a petite little girl weighing at 7 pounds 11 ounces. She was 4 pounds 9 ounces when she was born so we are thrilled with this weight gain. When she was born all I had was newborn sized sleepers and those were so big on her so I had to find some preemie ones and I was shocked to find out how hard it was to find them. She still wears some preemie and she can fit into some newborn sizes while some are still a little big.

So far in her eight weeks of life she has had a G-Tube surgery, has become a total daddy’s girl, loves her doggy, hates bath time (screams at the top of her lungs), began OT and Speech, and sleeps through the night. The sleeping through the night is because she gets continuous feeds, but we are still thrilled with that.

I love this little girl so much and can’t wait to share more about her with you all. Now I hope you enjoy all the iPhone snaps of her!

Baby Must Haves

When it comes to baby gear there is so much out there. I have to admit that I had a wonderful time registering for products for my little one. I mean who could not love doing so? But I did have to think smart. I had to be practical and and register for what I really needed for the baby. I think we did pretty well and I definitely have to share my favorite must haves with you all.

Halo Bassinet Swivel Sleeper: This “bassinest” is amazing so it definitely is a must have. I love how it vibrates and plays music to put your infant to sleep. My little girl loves it and instantly calms her down, well for the most part anyway.

Tory Burch Messenger Diaper Bag: Who doesn’t want a cute diaper bag? So of course I had to go with this messenger style one. It is so easy to carry; either one your shoulder or cross body style so it can be easy to move around.

NoseFrida: It may seem gross and all but this product actually works. It is so easy to remove any yucky buggers from your baby’s nose. Just apply the syringe to the tip of the nostril and just suck. It traps the buggers so don’t be afraid that any will get in your mouth.

Baby Jogger City Mini GT Stroller: This stroller is so wonderful. It is so easy to open and close. The best part about it is that it is very light weight. I am not the strongest person so I knew this would be a good fit for me and my little one.

Graco Pack ‘n’ Play: This product is so versatile so I knew I hd to have it. The bottom can be used for sleep and play. There is also a sleep station on top and a part that can be used to change the baby. How great is that?!

4moms Mamaroo: Rocking, soothing, and swinging. What else could you ask for? It does so much to keep your little one occupied while you need to do work around the house or cook for the family.

Nursery Reveal

I am very excited about today’s post! I absolutely love Lexi’s nursery. My goal was for her to have a bright and happy nursery and I feel that is exactly what I achieved. I am in love with the white, gray, and pink colors and of course the owls. I of course searched Pinterest for inspiration and combined a lot of ideas together and this is what I came up with. I hope you all love it as much as I do.
